This multiplicity of slopes makes the territory multifarious and difficult to categorize in one unique climate.

Certainly, the shallowness of the center north Adriatic in front of the Marche region, together with the exposure of the territory that is cut-off from the western and southern winds and opened rather to those from the east or from the north, give an almost “continental” characteristic to the area’s climate, although the increase in average annual temperature in all of the Marche region, by almost one degree in forty years, has certainly influenced the climate of Cupramontana towards a more mediterranean character.

Years such as 1998, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2012 are to be considered extremely hot and dry.

The combination of average rainfall and important summer daytime temperatures are certainly the basis for wines which lack neither structure nor alcohol, the extreme temperature and late vegetative cycle of grapevines such as Verdicchio and Montepulciano guarantee optimal acidity and balanced development of aromatic precursors.
